The Scholes Library of Ceramics was established 50 years ago as a reference library for the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University. The library's primary mission is to serve as an information resource for the College's School of Ceramic Engineering and Materials Science and its School of Art and Design.
Most materials are available to the public on site and the library is a full participant in the Interlibrary Loan system. Due to the specialized nature of the collections, borrowing privileges are extended only to the students, faculty and staff of Alfred University and member campuses of the State University of New York. Courtesy borrowing privileges are also extended to Alfred University alumni living within a 30-mile radius of campus. Under certain conditions, ceramic and glass companies may establish industrial borrowing accounts with the library.
Certain collection categories including Reference, Special Collections, Archives, Periodicals, and Videotapes are noncirculating. Information on specific circulation policies and privileges may be obtained by calling the library's Public Services Department at (607) 871-2492. | | | | | |
